Hello!

My name is Margaret. Maybe you already know a thing or two about me if you've found this course, but if not, let's take a moment to get to know one another.

As an Author Accelerator Certified book coach, my primary goal is to help writers like you develop craft and confidence so you can tell your story in a way that engages readers. I do this through a considered path from the first spark of an idea through sharing your story with the right readers. My services are built off of integrity, creativity, empathy, and magick.

I'll be delivering both craft and confidence through magick in this course.

I identify as a solo eclectic intuitive witch. I help people like you who are questioning which path they should walk figure it out through tarot, oracle cards, runes, dream analysis, numerology, and astrology. I combine empathy with my intuition to help you get a clear view of the paths available to manifest a future you desire. I also help people build a mindfulness practice.

You'll see throughout the course that I invite you to use divination, spells, meditation & more to discover which pathways you desire to walk to help you realize your goals.

I'm also a writer, which means I know first-hand the writer's journey. I mostly write historical fiction because I’m an old soul. I love historical fiction because it makes me feel like I’m spending time in eras I belong in. My favorites to write span from the ancient era through the Renaissance, though I’ve dabbled in later and contemporary fiction as well. If you enjoy writing fiction of any genre or narrative memoir, you will also find this course helpful to your practice.

This course won't dive deep into writing craft; I offer other resources for creative writing, including 1:1 or group coaching. But since this is a course for writers who desire to write, you will find some discussion of craft within these lessons.

What if witchcraft is new to you?

First, I want you to take a deep breath. You'll be okay. I'm here to help guide you. Remember too that we're all made of energy, and magick is working with energy. You can't break the Universe and you can't break yourself. The worst that will happen is an ineffectual spell. There's nothing in this course designed to do harm to anyone else, and as you progress through it, you'll learn about your own magickal inclinations.

To start with, I'll share a little bit about my own.

I am an eclectic witch…

…which means I incorporate elements from multiple traditions into my practices. I enjoy divination above all, but I also like talismanic magick, working with planetary energy, and incorporating elemental energy into my work. I believe in karma & reincarnation.

I believe that it’s more important to believe in something than what we actually believe. I’m open-minded and enjoy talking to people about their various spiritual beliefs.

I am an intuitive witch…

…which means that most of my practice is based on what I intuitively feel is right. I might write a spell and look forward to performing it that way for weeks, awaiting the right astrological alignments… only to change it while I’m working the spell because of what feels right.

I also prefer folk magick, or low magick, to ritual or high magick. While the latter fascinates me for storytelling and I enjoy reading about it, I work long days as a writer & coach and at the end of the day, the last thing I want to do is an in-depth ceremony or ritual.

Sometimes my magick involves some meditation, writing runes on a piece of bark harvested from the sea, and offering some herbs in gratitude to the Universe.

I am a trained witch…

…which means I’ve studied the craft. I spent a year and a day studying with Fiona Duncan at The Magickal Path School of Witchcraft in the Way of the Witch 101 course.

Now that I’ve graduated from that course, I’m taking my knowledge and experience further with custom 201 courses. At present, I’m studying planetary energy in more depth.

I have a tarot/oracle deck addiction…

…which means I can’t resist buying decks that speak to me. But I also work with runes, a pendulum, dreams, numerology, and astrology. My view of divination is that by changing our perception, we can make more informed decisions in the present to manifest the future we desire.

I do not practice baneful magick…

…which means I do not hex or curse others. I practice beneficial magick mostly, but am not philosophically against banishing or binding if it’s for self-defense (not surprising considering I also have a 3rd degree black belt in Kempo…).

I never want to hurt anyone. For one thing, it’s not nice. For another, I don’t want to mess with my own karma.

You may decide to follow a similar path. Or not. The path you follow is your choice, and I'm not here to judge you for your choices. I'm here to show you how you can integrate witchcraft into your writing practice to help you manifest your desires as an author.

Will we cover every aspect of witchcraft and every aspect of authorship? Nope. But that's okay, because at the end of the course, I will share resources to help you expand your knowledge in these areas and more.

With each section and each lecture, I'll talk more about different types of witchcraft and some of the choices that are open to you. I'm here though to share with you how weaving my witchcraft practice into my writing practice has helped me. It's not the only way. My hope is that you will take what you learn here and adapt it to make it your own, to serve you and your story.

I was raised Roman Catholic. I came into witchcraft when I felt my original path was no longer the one I wished to walk. I'm aware that for some, especially coming from that tradition, witchcraft can seem frightening at first. But remember that you never have to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. If it doesn't feel right, it's not right for you.

Hexing or cursing someone or something does not feel right for me so I don't do either of those things.
